Card Management
Eliminate the need to switch between systems and manage cards directly in Canopy!

Managing payment cards is a critical function for lenders who issue credit card products. Our Card Management feature set provides comprehensive control over card issuance, activation, and status management directly from the Canopy platform, eliminating the need to switch between multiple systems.
Use Cases
Real-time Card Controls
- Misplaced Card Management: Temporarily freeze cards when customers report them misplaced, preventing unauthorized transactions while the card is being located
- Lost/Stolen Card Handling: Immediately cancel compromised cards and issue replacements in a single workflow
- Card Activation: Enable new or replacement cards through a simple activation process
- Card Renewal: Manage the transition from expiring cards to newly issued cards with controlled overlapping periods
Credit Line Management
- Card-Level Spending Controls: Create dedicated spending limits for individual cards while maintaining a single, centralized line of credit
- Granular Transaction Reporting: Track and analyze spending patterns by card and cardholder
- Flexible Credit Adjustments: Modify card limits independently based on customer needs and risk assessments
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a card be issued with an explicit spending limit carved from a parent credit line?
Yes. When issuing a card, you can define a specific spending allocation from the parent credit line. This sets a clear limit for the card while ensuring total exposure remains within the approved parent line. The allocation is dynamically tracked against the parent line’s available credit.
Does each card independently enforce its assigned spending control?
Yes. Each card enforces its assigned spending limit independently. During a transaction, the system checks available credit within that specific card’s allocation—regardless of the parent line or other cards. This guarantees strict enforcement of your configured spending rules.
Can transactions be cleanly attributed to their spending controls and rolled up to parent line reports?
Yes. Our transaction engine maintains a full hierarchy from card to parent line. Reports allow you to:
- View individual card-level transactions
- Analyze patterns across card allocations
- Generate consolidated parent line statements inclusive of all card activity
- Filter and segment by card, cardholder, or spending control
Can cards be frozen, adjusted, or revoked independently?
Yes. Each card can be managed independently without affecting other cards or the parent line. You can:
- Freeze a specific card while allowing other cards to remain active
- Adjust individual card limits up or down based on usage patterns or customer needs
- Revoke a card entirely by canceling the associated card, with the allocated credit returning to the parent line's available balance
